Children in our foster care system often experience multiple placements which compromises the education they receive. Based upon suffering grades and lack of support, many do not graduate from high school and few go on to college. Rise Above for Youth seeks to change that. By creating an educational plan with youth both pre- and post- emancipation, we will support youth by providing tutoring in areas of weakness and reinforcing areas of strength. Both in our after-school programs and in our ongoing case management educational pursuits will be highlighted and encouraged. For those who have already dropped out of high school, we will provide GED preparation courses and encourage youth to obtain their GED.

But a high school diploma is not our only goal. At Rise Above for Youth, we encourage a college education and provide supports to enter college or vocational institutions. By providing the access to available programs and informing youth of available funding opportunities, it is our goal to prepare youth for a stable educational path and ultimately a self-sustaining career.
Though we would love to have 100% of our youth seek a college degree, we realize it may not be for everyone. As a result, we work with youth to identify areas of interest and seek out vocational training options that will help them meet their goals. Further, we work with local businesses to provide youth with opportunities to intern, apprentice, and obtain full time employment.

If you are a business,
college, or vocational program interested in helping our Youth, please ontact us. We would value the opportunity to
partner and provide more options for educational and professional growth.
