Independent Living Skills

Providing youth with the skills to care for themselves and their community is one of the most important facets of our program which is utilized both pre- and post-emancipation.  Not only are these skills taught in a classroom setting and in our after-school programs, but daily application of these skills is reviewed with Case Management staff to ensure understanding and reinforcement of the lessons learned.

Upon entering the program, participants take an independent living skills assessment and a development plan is created by both the youth and their Case Manager.  Topics in the curriculum include:

·         Career Planning

·         Communication

·         Daily Living

·         Home Life

·         Housing and Money Management

·         Self  Care

·         Social Relationships

·         Work Life

·         Work & Study Skills
